3. Records available without a request

- our catalogue at africalures.com/catalogue, and
- posts on our Facebook page.

- Supplier records: quotes, invoices and correspondence with suppliers, couriers and stockists.
- Product records: lure designs, materials, photos and marketing material.
- Website records: website content and anonymous website statistics.
5. Records kept because the law requires them
We keep records as required by, among others, the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011, the Value-Added Tax Act 89 of 1991 (if registered), the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000.
6. How to request a record
- Complete Form 2 (Request for access to a record) from the Information Regulator's website, or email us and we'll send it to you.
- Send it to our Information Officer at info@africalures.com.
- Give enough detail to identify the record, say how you would like to receive it, and say which of your rights the record is needed to exercise or protect.
- We will tell you of any fee before we do the work. Fees are set by the PAIA regulations; there is no fee to ask for your own personal information.
- We will reply within 30 days. If we need more time, we will tell you, as section 57 allows.
7. Why a request may be refused
PAIA sets out when a private body must or may refuse a request (Chapter 4 of Part 3), for example to protect:
- another person's privacy,
- commercial information of a third party or of our own business,
- confidential information,
- the safety of people or property, or
- legally privileged records.
If we refuse, we will give reasons. You can complain to the Information Regulator or apply to court.
8. How we process personal information (POPIA)
- Why: to take and deliver orders, handle returns and warranty claims, answer questions, keep tax and business records, and improve our website.
- Who: customers, people who contact us, suppliers, couriers and stockists.
- What: names, contact details, delivery addresses, order and payment records, and messages. For website visitors: anonymous usage data (only with consent) and technical data such as IP addresses.
- Shared with: couriers and PUDO, WhatsApp (Meta), our web host Vercel, Google Analytics (with consent), and authorities such as SARS where the law requires.
- Outside South Africa: Vercel and Google are based in the United States and WhatsApp runs servers worldwide. These providers are bound by data protection terms that protect information to a standard similar to POPIA.
- Security: the website is served over HTTPS, no card or banking details are collected on the website, order details are only seen by the people who handle orders, and our business accounts are password protected.
More detail is in our privacy policy.
